Meet Angel Thompson, one of our Dream On 3 recipients!
Angel: Angel is an inspiring ten year old that has been battling a malignant brain tumor for over four years. In March of 2010, she underwent her first surgery to remove the large tumor in her cerebellum and brainstem. The doctors were able to remove 95% of the tumor, but needed to proceed with a second surgery which occurred in March of 2012. The second surgery was then followed by 18 months of chemotherapy. Angel still continues to fight the good fight, for someday she will be cancer free!
Her Dream: Believe it or not, Angel is a hunter and has had good luck this past season with three deer kills under her belt. In the woods is where Angel feels happy and at home. Her sports dream is to hunt with a professional and learn from the best…and if someone from Buck Commander happens to be that person, even better!
The weekend of January 9th became a memorable and awe-inspiring weekend for Angel Thompson, her family, and DO3. Adam Laroche, 1st baseman for the Chicago White Sox and co-owner of Buck Commander, invited Angel to come out to his Kansas ranch to go hunting with her crossbow. Before flying out on Friday, Angel was surprised with the good news of her upcoming experience at an amazing send-off celebration! Family, friends, and even her medical team were all there to share in the excitement.
Once Angel, her family, and the DO3 team arrived in Kansas, they headed towards Adam Laroche’s E3 Ranch. The Laroche family was extremely kind and hospitable housing all of them for the entire weekend. Adam surprised Angel with numerous gifts from UNDER ARMOUR and a surprise visit from his buddy, Willie Robertson. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, Angel, Adam, and her father went hunting, where Angel had her first crossbow success by bringing home a 13 point buck. Adam also had the Thompson family attend chuch with him and his family on Sunday morning, where Angel and her family gave their testimony of faith.
It truly was an unbelievable “Dream Come True” for Angel. Not only did she get to hunt with and learn from the best, but she gained a new friend for life!
