Local 19-year-old with Noonan Syndrome has Seattle Seahawks Dream come true!
Meet Chase: Chase is a 19-year-old living with Noonan Syndrome. Noonan Syndrome is a genetic disorder that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. Noonan syndrome affects people in different ways. These ways typically include unusual facial characteristics, short stature, heart defects, other physical problems, and developmental delays. Chase’s condition has made it difficult for her to have close friendships with other people her age. But she’s made up for this with her love for sports! Chase has always considered herself to be the “Michael Jordan” of any sport that she’s tried, and has been blessed to have adults in her life that have reinforced that self-confidence and made her feel special. She is an avid football fan. Chase is an avid football fan! Chase’s father and brother both coach football in Concord, NC, and Chase helps them on the field by motivating the players and getting them pumped up before their big games. Chase says her favorite things about her sports heroes are that they “use their fame for good, such as helping sick children, writing children’s books, and setting a good example.”
Her Dream: Chase’s Dream was to meet JR Sweezy and the Seattle Seahawks, as well as fly in an airplane for the first time! On August 12th, after a surprise sendoff celebration at the Concord High School football scrimmage, Chase and her family took that first flight to Seattle for her Dream! Chase received a warm welcome from the Seahawks Organization and mascot, Blitz. Blitz led Chase and her family on a private tour of the Seahawks facilities. After the tour, Chase was taken to the field to meet the Seahawks and her sports hero, J.R. Sweezy! Though Chase is a big fan of all the Seahawks, her and Sweezy are both from Mooresville, NC. Sweezy’s father and sister even surprised Chase by attending her sendoff before the trip! After practice, Chase and her family had a private lunch with the Sweezys. Two days later, Chase was able to join the 12s in cheering on the Seahawks as they took on the Broncos in the first preseason game! Chase received the VIP treatment, watching the team warmup from the sidelines and then cheering them on from a private suite! Special thanks to J.R. Sweezy, his family, and the Seattle Seahawks organization for going above and beyond for Dream Kid Chase.
In addition to their time with the Seahawks, Chase and her family were able to take in the sights and sounds of Seattle during their trip! From cheering on the Mariners in a no hitter at Safeco Field, to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, it was all in all an amazing experience! Thank you to all those who added some magic to Chase’s Dream, making it an unforgettable experience.
