The feeling of the ball connecting with a bat, shooting a 3-pointer or scoring a touchdown is not something that 18-year-old Christian Heavner is able to experience but that does not keep him from being a huge sports fan! Christian loves talking about sports, watching ESPN and playing NBA video games.
Christian is a senior at Northwest Cabarrus High School. His school has been selected to partner with us for the Junior Dream Team program in the 2016-2017 school year. This high school has shown great
initiative, excitement and a passion for serving others. With our help, a team of students will plan a Dream Experience for Christian, who was selected by his fellow classmates. Through this program, students are learning about fundraising, the nonprofit sector, and teamwork while developing critical character traits such as compassion, generosity, and dependability. These students will lead an entire school, and even an entire community, as they help make Christian’s Dream come true!
Christian lives with cerebral palsy, which affects body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle control, reflex, posture, and balance. Although Christian cannot walk, he makes his grand slam entrance into a room with his power chair!

Although Christian doesn’t know exactly what he wants to be when he grows up, he does know he would love to be able to work in the sports field. His absolute favorite team is the New York Yankees however, he also likes the Alabama Crimson Tide and his favorite coach is Coach K of the Duke Blue Devils!
Christian’s sports dream is to “see the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium.” In addition to seeing the Yankees, he is also very excited about flying in an airplane for the very first time!
When Christian learned his sports dream would be coming true he was surrounded with support from principals, his mom and two seniors from the Junior Dream Team. The two seniors, Clay and Mariah (pictured above) helped us share the exciting news with Christian by presenting him with a brand new, New York Yankees hat!
Christian was very excited as he expressed how appreciative he is to be given this opportunity and humbled by the fact that his fellow students would have such an important role in making his dream come true!
The Dream On 3 Junior Dream Team program is sponsored by The Joey Logano Foundation,
an organization that believes in helping strengthen our community.
