Local teen with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy has WWE Dream come true
Meet Michael: Michael is a 16-year-old teenager who lives with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, which is caused by abnormal brain development or damage that affects a person’s ability to control his or her muscles and all four limbs.
Michael is nonverbal and has very limited use of his arms and legs, but that doesn’t stop him from communicating and expressing his thoughts & emotions! Michael communicates through a computer and something called an eye gaze board. Like many 16-year-olds, Michael enjoys playing xbox, shopping at the mall, riding roller coasters, and traveling with his family.
Despite his condition, Michael has no cognitive impairments. He is mainstreamed in school with the help of a personal assistant and can participate in various activities. Michael is interested in weather and cars, and wants to be a meteorologist or mechanical engineer when he grows up!
The Sendoff: Michael was brought to the school auditorium for an assembly to honor a special student. He was shocked to learn that the special student, was him! North Meck’s assistant principal spoke about Michael as his hero and then welcomed him to the stage. Michael was presented with his very own wrestling belt and told that his WWE dream is coming true! Not only was he going to Greenville to attend WWE Raw Live, he was going by helicopter to get there!
His Dream: Michael is a huge WWE fan and his dream of attending WWE Raw Live came true on November 16th in Greenville, SC. With the help of WWE, Michael was able to meet some of his favorite wrestlers. He and his family also had front row seats to the last Monday Raw before the Survivor Series, incredible! Michael’s WWE experience began with a private meet and greet with wrestlers Ryback and Kane. Later, they were escorted down to the front row of Bon Secours Arena where they cheered on their favorite wrestlers! Special thanks to WWE for giving Dream Kid Michael a VIP experience.
In addition to Michael’s WWE experience, our friends at BMW and CU- ICAR helped us add some magic to Michael’s dream. Michael had a blast at the BMW Manufacturing Factory where he enjoyed lunch, a VIP tour, and the ride of his life! Later, we stopped by the International Center for Automotive Research where Michael and his family received a top secret VIP tour. Michael loved learning from some of the automotive industry’s best engineers.
His referral partner: Michael was referred to us by Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital.
