Meet Anthony

Meet Anthony! Born and raised in Charlotte, Anthony comes from a rich multicultural background with roots in Argentina and El Salvador. He loves hanging out with his best friends and playing video games like FIFA and NCAA Basketball, where his passion for sports truly shines.

His life took an unexpected turn during his junior year of high school when he fell ill amidst a family emergency in El Salvador. What started as headaches, severe nausea, and swelling in his foot led to a leukemia diagnosis. Anthony was rushed back to the U.S., receiving initial treatment in Dallas before continuing chemotherapy in Charlotte with Novant Health. By December 2023, his symptoms worsened, leading to intense treatment at Atrium, including spinal taps, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. In May 2024, Anthony underwent a bone marrow transplant, then made a remarkable recovery and proudly rang the bell in June!

Rebuilding his strength, Anthony went from a walker to a cane and now only uses AFO braces. He has shown remarkable resilience, battling not just physical illness but mental health struggles, including anxiety and moments of deep doubt. Anthony even recently started driving and resumed school at Central Piedmont Community College, where he’s working toward an Associate’s Degree studying international business.

His love for sports has remained a constant fueling his drive to keep moving forward. Basketball has played a big role in Anthony’s life, especially his admiration for Charlotte Hornets star. LaMelo Ball. Anthony has followed LaMelo, dating back to their family’s reality show and watches all of his highlights on YouTube. Anthony’s dream day would be to hang out with Lamelo Ball, play video games with him and check out his cars!

Anthony's Dream

Anthony’s Dream started with one thing that quickly became clear: this was never just about him, it was about family.

From the moment Dream On 3 knocked on his door, Anthony’s family filled every space with energy, love, and unwavering support. What could have been a quiet start turned into something even more powerful. His family showed up as his biggest hype crew, proving that they are not only his foundation, but his greatest source of joy.

Day One kicked off in true Dream fashion with a surprise club fitting and shopping spree at PGA TOUR Superstore. Anthony, a passionate golfer who even works at a local driving range, was fitted for custom clubs and gifted everything he needed to elevate his game. But more than the gear, it was the moment his walls came down, when the smiles got bigger and the reality of “this is all for me” truly set in. The day continued with games at Activate, laughter, and a family dinner at The Public House that felt intentionally designed just for him, because it was.

Day Two brought the ultimate Charlotte Hornets experience. From a surprise luxury ride in a Ferrari from Foreign Cars Italia to Spectrum Center to behind the scenes access with players and coaches, Anthony was welcomed like part of the team. When the Ferrari pulled up, the boys couldn’t believe it. When asked if they wanted a ride, they couldn’t have jumped in any quicker!

After, Anthony watched shootaround from the bench, stepped onto the court, and even beat Tre Mann in NBA 2K. Hornets head coach, Charles Lee, started the team film review by recognizing Anthony and family. The entire team clapped and celebrated with Anthony. Then during the practice, the head coach grabbed Ant and pulled him to the floor to get to know him. Anthony was then able to break down the team in their huddle and the smile on his face said it all.

Anthony shared meaningful conversation with Dell Curry who came to the arena just to meet him, connected with players he looks up to, and in a moment he will never forget, was personally pulled aside by Kemba Walker to meet LaMelo Ball, who broke routine to spend time with Anthony, sign his gear, and celebrate everything he has overcome. Anthony also spent time being interviewed live during the team’s pre-game radio broadcast.

And when offered floor seats to the game, Anthony said no. He chose to stay with his family.

That moment said everything.

Anthony’s Dream didn’t end with the final buzzer. From lighting the hive in front of thousands to the quiet gratitude shared after it all, his kindness, humility, and love for his family left a lasting impact on everyone involved.

This Dream was unforgettable not just because of what Anthony experienced, but because of who he is. A fighter, a leader, and a reminder that the greatest moments in life are the ones shared together.
