Meet Garret

Garret is a 12-year-old from Sylva, NC. He lives with ADHD, a Sensory Processing Disorder, and Hypotonia. Due to these conditions, he also struggles with learning and fine motor skills. Simple tasks like putting on clothes and brushing his teeth can be challenging for him, but he works harder than anyone else to accomplish them. While it can be frustrating, he still keeps a very positive attitude.

Garret’s mom says that he is enthusiastic about life and loves being involved in his community! If someone needs help with a task or a project, he is the first to volunteer. He loves bowling, fishing, watching sports, playing basketball, and is very observant about his surroundings. If you’re outside with him, he’s always the first to notice a bird or other animal.

Being from Sylva, Garret is a BIG fan of fishing and the outdoors. He would love to have the opportunity to go fishing with a professional Bassmaster.

The Western Carolina University Collegiate Dream Team is excited to support Garret and they can’t wait to make Garret’s Dream come true!

Garret's Dream

Garret’s sports dream was to fish with a professional, so when Bassmaster Elite Brandon Card was contacted to pitch in, he jumped at the chance! They met at a private lake and Garret had the opportunity to fish from Brandon’s Vexus VX21, they fished on the banks of the lake, they talked about lures and casting methods, and they caught fish.

They actually caught A LOT OF FISH. And they bonded instantly. It was amazing to observe Garret, who lives with ADHD, focused, patient, and dialed in… soaking up all that Brandon had to share and teach him.

These two anglers had an awesome day together.
