Griffin is a resilient 14-year-old attending Kannapolis Middle School with a passion for all things baseball. This all-star excels as a first baseman, outfielder and as a pitcher! Griffin’s academic achievements are equally impressive—he’s a National Honor Society member with a perfect record of straight A’s. Beyond academics, he dreams of playing in the MLB, idolizing players like Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees. Despite facing significant challenges, his determination to achieve greatness is inspiring.
While practicing in the batting cages, Griffin began to feel unwell. A trip to the hospital revealed a brain bleed caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a congenital condition. This led to a non-traumatic brain injury, resulting in a 60-day hospital stay. After two weeks in the ICU and an initial period of immobility, Griffin’s recovery began to pick up speed. He transitioned to inpatient rehab and worked tirelessly to regain basic functions. Today, he can walk with a walker and undergoes regular speech, occupational, and physical therapy. His ultimate goal is to walk independently and once again care for himself.
Baseball is Griffin’s greatest motivation, driving his determination at every turn. His therapists have even customized his rehab to incorporate his passion for the game. Griffin’s ultimate dream is to attend the 2025 MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta, GA. He would be absolutely thrilled to meet his idol, Aaron Judge, and watch him play in the All-Star Game!
