Meet Jacalyn

Meet Jacalyn, a bold, radiant young woman whose story is marked by resilience, heart, and an unshakable love for life. Jacalyn has grown up surrounded by encouragement, creativity, and a deep appreciation for sports, especially basketball.

At just 12 years old, Jacalyn’s life changed when she began experiencing severe and unexplained medical issues. What started as stomach pain turned into a complex medical journey involving Crohn’s disease, Behçet’s disease, Gastroparesis, POTS, Cushing’s disease, and Dysautonomia. With more than 40 hospitalizations and frequent trips to specialists all across the country, Jacalyn has faced challenges that most people could never imagine.

Despite the physical pain and constant uncertainty she faces, Jacalyn’s spirit has never wavered. She is an honor roll student who continues to value learning, creativity, and personal growth. Amidst the numerous hospital stays and countless doctors appointments, she has held on to hope and the belief that joy is still ahead of her.

Basketball remains one of Jacalyn’s greatest sources of strength and motivation. She is drawn to the Lady Horned Frogs not because of a single player, but because of the team itself—the unity, determination, and shared purpose they represent. Her ultimate sports dream is to spend time with the TCU Women’s Basketball team, feeling part of that team environment she loves so deeply. For Jacalyn, basketball is about more than just the game – it’s belonging, encouragement, and fighting together.

Through her time in hospitals, Jacalyn has been inspired by the nurses and medical staff who have cared for her, sparking dreams of a career in the medical field in the future. With her parents, her service dog Brees, and her unwavering determination, Jacalyn continues to face each day with bravery and grace. Her story is a powerful reminder that true strength is not defined by the absence of struggle, but by the courage to keep dreaming, connecting, and believing—no matter how hard the journey becomes.

Jacalyn's Dream

The weekend kicked off in the most unforgettable way with a surprise limo send off. Jacalyn was gifted a custom jersey and shoes featuring her dog’s name and picture, a personal touch that meant the world to her. She absolutely loved it.

Our first stop was TCU, where Assistant Coach and Assistant AD for Operations Jessie welcomed us for an incredible behind the scenes tour of their state of the art athletic facilities. Jacalyn even stepped into the snow room to test it out. From there, she attended Women’s Basketball practice, joined by Council Member, Nick Signoretto. The team surprised her with a signed basketball and poster, creating a moment she will never forget.

After checking into the beautiful The Nobleman Hotel, we grabbed lunch at Panera Bread with Council Member, Susan Storey before heading to Volleyball practice. Jacalyn was welcomed with open arms, thoughtful gifts, and a sweet friendship circle where everyone shared their name, hometown, and favorite ice cream. It was an instant bond.

Soccer practice followed, where she was invited to the sidelines for warmups and showered with encouragement and more surprises. The night ended with a tour of the football facilities alongside TCU wide receiver Keagan Cunningham, and yes, a special moment on the field. But the true highlight was wrapping up the evening fireside with the TCU CDT Captains and team, sharing pizza, laughter, life stories, and all the girlie things. It was pure magic.

Day two started strong with breakfast at Yogi’s Deli & Grill, because champions need fuel. Then came a full purple takeover at Rally House for the ultimate TCU shopping spree.

One of the most powerful moments of the weekend came during a private tour of the TCU Nursing School. Watching Jacalyn step into the place where she dreams of becoming a nurse was absolutely priceless. You could see her future unfolding in real time.

Lunch at Raising Cane’s included a surprise goodie basket and an official Cane’s Crew hat before heading back to TCU as a VIP guest for the men’s basketball game. Jacalyn truly was the good luck charm, bringing home a huge win for the Frogs. A VIP meet and greet with the coach and team, plus a signed ball and jersey, made the night even more unforgettable.

Dream Day began in the best way possible, shooting around with the TCU Women’s Basketball team. From the moment she walked in, Jacalyn was embraced with big smiles and open arms. After photos and shots on the court, she spent time painting TCU game day artwork with CDT members, leaning into her love for art and creativity.

Then it was game time.

Jacalyn was greeted by the cheer squad, watched pregame warmups up close, and received another incredible goodie basket before taking her courtside seats. She high fived the starting lineup, was celebrated on the court, and cheered on the Lady Frogs to a nail biting win.

Three days filled with unforgettable moments, big wins, heartfelt conversations, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Jacalyn’s Dream was more than a weekend. It was a glimpse into her future, surrounded by a community that believes in her every step of the way.
