Meet Jaeda—a bold, radiant young woman whose strength and spirit leave a lasting impression on everyone she meets. She carries herself with confidence and joy, even in the face of life’s harshest battles. There’s a light in Jaeda that refuses to dim—a light that encourages others to stand taller, love deeper, and never take a single day for granted.
Jaeda’s love for basketball once filled her days with dreams of playing at the highest level—she could see herself driving down the court, leading her team to victory. That dream shifted the day she lost her leg to cancer. But while the game changed, Jaeda didn’t. Her determination stayed intact. Her fire never flickered. And the heart of that little girl chasing big dreams? It only grew stronger.
Recently, Jaeda received news no one ever wants to hear—her cancer has returned, and treatment options are now few. Yet even with that weight on her shoulders, she chose to return to school, walking back through those doors with grace, grit, and an unshakable spirit. She could’ve stayed virtual. She could’ve pulled back. But that’s not who Jaeda is. She shows up—for life, for her people, and for herself.
Jaeda’s sports dream would be to spend time with the Duke Women’s Basketball team—the team she has looked up to for as long as she can remember. She’d love to be part of their practice, sit in the locker room, hear the pre-game talks, meet the players, and just feel like she’s a part of their sisterhood. Whether it’s rebounding balls, sharing stories, or just laughing together— she wants to experience what it feels like to be a Duke athlete, even just for a day.
Jaeda’s journey has been marked by pain and unimaginable challenges—but through it all, she shines. She is living proof that the fiercest warriors often wear the brightest smiles, and that the most heartfelt dreams are the ones most worth fulfilling.
