Meet Taylor

Taylor is one of the kindest, strongest, and most compassionate people you’ll ever meet. At only 13 years old, she has endured more than most people do in a lifetime—and yet, she continues to radiate positivity, strength, and selflessness. She’s the kind of person who always makes sure others feel included and supported, even while carrying her own challenges. Taylor has a natural ability to brighten every room she enters, simply by being herself.

Her journey began at just three years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She underwent chemotherapy for over two years before entering remission. For the next seven years, Taylor was able to enjoy life as a typical kid—surrounded by her family, friends, and beloved animals. But shortly after turning 11, she received the heartbreaking news that her leukemia had returned.

Taylor began intensive treatment in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. She had to leave her home and everything familiar in order to relocate to Nashville for nearly four months. The transplant process took a major physical and emotional toll—but she faced it with incredible courage and resilience.

Post-transplant life continues to bring challenges. Taylor manages a complex schedule of medications and ongoing recovery needs. But through it all, she remains gracious, hopeful, and determined.

Taylor’s dream is to spend time with the University of Tennessee cheerleaders—attending a practice, learning routines, and cheering with them at a game. For a girl who loves energy, connection, and being part of a team, this dream represents joy, celebration, and a well-deserved bright spot after everything she’s been through.

Taylor's Dream

From the moment her Dream began, it was clear Taylor was in for something unforgettable.

Her weekend kicked off with an exclusive tour of Pratt Pavilion and the iconic Neyland Stadium. Walking through the stadium where so many Tennessee greats have played was already special but then came a surprise that took it to the next level. Taylor looked up to see her name shining brightly on the Neyland jumbotron. A moment larger than life for a truly larger than life Dreamer.

She explored both the football and cheer game day locker rooms, stepped inside the spaces where teams prepare for big moments, and even got to see where the basketball teams practice and spend time together. Every stop made her feel more like part of the Volunteer family.

And then came another unforgettable surprise. Taylor had her very own media shoot. Lights, camera, confidence. Getting to pose and celebrate alongside her favorite mascot made her feel like the star she truly is. Watching her light up in that moment reminded all of us what these Dreams are about.

Day two brought even more excitement.

The morning started with breakfast and a special guest from CFA Homberg Drive, kicking off the day with smiles and warm hospitality. From there, Taylor headed to Alumni Hall for a shopping spree filled with Tennessee gear and goodies. Picking out her favorite pieces and gearing up in orange set the tone for an unforgettable game day experience.

But the biggest surprise of the day was yet to come.

Taylor had the incredible opportunity to be part of Smokey’s Spirit Squad before the men’s basketball game against LSU. Standing courtside, surrounded by energy and excitement, she wasn’t just watching the action, she was part of it. The roar of the crowd, the sea of orange, and the feeling of belonging created a memory that will last a lifetime.

A heartfelt thank you to Kelley Tafazzoli and Sara Blankenship for helping make this once in a lifetime experience possible. Because of generous partners and a community that believes in the power of Dreams, Taylor’s weekend was filled with joy, confidence, and moments she will never forget.
