Meet Angel Thompson, an extraordinary individual whose life changed forever when Dream On 3 made her dream come true in 2015. At just 10 years old, Angel faced an difficult battle against a malignant brain tumor. Her resilience and unwavering spirit inspired us all.
In 2010, Angel underwent her first surgery, a courageous step to remove a tumor from her cerebellum and brainstem. The surgeons successfully eliminated an astonishing 95% of the tumor. However, a second surgery became necessary in 2012, followed by a challenging 18-month chemotherapy regimen. Through it all, Angel’s determination never wavered.
Dream On 3 recognized Angel’s passion for hunting, and she became the first and, to-date the only, recipient of a hunting dream granted by the organization. Adam LaRoche, retired Chicago White Sox player and owner of Buck Commander, played a pivotal role in making Angel’s sports dream a reality. She enjoyed a memorable hunting shopping spree at Academy Sports & Outdoors, and Adam graciously invited Angel and her family to stay at his home. It was during this incredible experience that Angel accomplished a remarkable feat, successfully hunting a 13-point buck with a crossbow on her very first attempt. To add to the magic, she received a surprise visit from the renowned TV personality and businessman, Willie Robertson.
Today, Angel is thriving as a sophomore at NC State University, where she continues to embody her unwavering spirit. Pursuing her studies in Conservation Biology and Animal Science, she passionately dedicates herself to preserving the natural world for future generations. Angel has also found solace and joy in her love for equestrian sports, being an esteemed member of the dressage team at her university.
But Angel’s story doesn’t end there. As a proud member of the first NCSU Collegiate Dream Team, Angel pays it forward by connecting with fellow students who share her passion for making dreams come true. Together, they empower and support individuals living with life-altering medical conditions, spreading hope and inspiration.
