Meet Brady! This incredible 13-year-old has faced more challenges than most, but his positivity, grit, and big heart make him one of a kind.
Born with tethered vocal cords and a heart condition (SVT), Brady spent much of his early life in and out of hospitals. At just a few days old, complications during intubation led to a severed vocal fold, resulting in a tracheotomy being placed to help him breathe. Doctors weren’t sure he would ever talk, but Brady’s determination proved them wrong. Thanks to the amazing team at the University of Michigan Hospital, Brady has undergone over 20 procedures to improve his breathing, including groundbreaking surgeries that helped him grow into the active, energetic kid he is today.
Brady’s passion for sports is unmatched. This past fall he played football with everything he had—racking up 11 tackles and a forced fumble the night before another major surgery to expand his airway. With dirt still on his knees, Brady headed to the hospital, showing the kind of toughness that inspires everyone around him. While recovery has sidelined him from playing basketball this season, Brady hasn’t missed a beat. He’s been in the stands cheering on his team, working out in the weight room after school, and hanging out with his friends playing video games.
Through it all, Brady remains upbeat, caring, and full of energy. He never lets his challenges slow him down and continues to lift up those around him with his cheerful spirit.
His biggest dream is to have a VIP experience with Michigan Basketball—meeting the players, watching them in action, and celebrating the sport he loves. We can’t wait to make that dream come true for this truly remarkable kid!
