Brantlee Kate (BK)'s Dream

Meet Brantlee Kate (BK)

Meet Brantlee Kate, aka BK, a spirited and fun-loving 14-year-old from Vestavia Hills, Alabama! Come to Vestavia High School on a Friday night and you will find her proudly cheering on the Vestavia High Football team with her teammates!

Born with Down syndrome, BK faces daily challenges that her peers do not. BK knew that she was different early on, but her family would always make sure she knew that she was loved and cherished for exactly who she is. Because of their unwavering love and support, BK is confident in who she is and makes friend everywhere she goes! BK has never met a stranger and lights up every room she enters with her smile and positive spirit.

When she is not on the sidelines or courtside cheering on her high school, she is a normal teen making TikToks, singing her heart out during karaoke, or shooting hoops in her driveway.

BK loves being part of a team and would love to cheer with University of Alabama Spirit Squad at a UA Men’s Basketball game. Working with the University of Alabama Collegiate Dream Team and meeting the Alabama Spirit Squad would be a DREAM come true!

Brantlee Kate (BK)'s Dream

BK’s sendoff was absolutely perfect! BK was completely surprised when she saw her family at school, especially her brother, who flew in from college just to be there! We kicked things off by playing a Dream On 3 hype video in the gym, packed with hundreds of classmates, followed by a video from the one and only Alabama Cheer Team welcoming her to the Dream On 3 family. As the video ended, BK ran to the center of the court, jumping up and down with excitement while the whole school cheered her on.

Upon arrival at the beautiful Hotel Indigo, BK was greeted by Big Al and four Alabama cheerleaders. She ran into Big Al’s arms screaming, “you’re my favorite!” She then received two swag bags—one from the cheer team and one from the CDT—leaving her ecstatic. We brought her to her hotel room, where she was surprised by Hotel Indigo with a basket of their own swag, courtesy of Visit Tuscaloosa and Swag LLC. Later, we visited a pottery studio where BK painted a rainbow piggy bank while she and the CDT swapped stories. For dinner, we enjoyed Taco Mama and then headed straight to the Gymnastics meet. We sat front row, right by the beams! BK had the chance to meet the cheer team and Big Al, and she even cheered for a few minutes on the mat during the meet, making it onto the big screen. After the game, we grabbed a sweet treat before sending BK back to the hotel to end an amazing first day.

Day two was another perfect day from start to finish! BK received full glam to start her day. As a true girlie girl, she couldn’t have loved it more! We kicked off festivities with a campus scavenger hunt, visiting key spots like the stadium, the Saban statue, Walk of Champions, Sorority Row (where BK got to see Alabama CDT Captain Kate’s room), and the Tuska statue.

After a pizza lunch, the team went to the Supe Store and BamaStuff for BK’s ultimate shopping spree before heading back to the hotel for a quick break. After changing into her new gear, we went to the Coleman Coliseum, where BK was escorted to meet the cheer and dance teams. She even got to watch the cheer team practice on the court and helped them with the tunnel as the basketball players ran out on to the court! BK and her family sat courtside for the game before ending the day with a sweet treat, of course, before resting up for day three.

A truly bittersweet day as it was the final day with Dream girl, BK. We kicked things off with a glam and glitter session, followed by a delicious brunch at Big Bad Breakfast. Then, we headed to the stadium for a tour, where we had a blast doing cartwheels on the field and running down it while “Thunderstruck” played! Afterward, we rode over to Coleman Coliseum once again where BK had lunch with the cheerleaders and joined them for the pre-game tunnel. She was also announced on the court as the champion of the game, with the CDT standing with her as Dream On 3 was introduced to the crowd as everyone cheered for BK!

We watched the Alabama Women’s Basketball defeat Auburn courtside, then celebrated with Baked Bear to cap off an amazing weekend!

Way to go, Alabama Collegiate Dream Team!
