Meet Caden

Meet Caden! This athletic and talented 19-year-old was the top scorer for the Hillsboro Men’s Basketball Team in 2021. On the court – Caden can do it all, but his ability to play defense was what captured the attention of several colleges.

Tragically, this D1 prospect was involved in a traumatic car accident when returning home from a Hillsboro football game with a friend. Caden was ejected 50 feet from the crash site, and was not found until the next morning. This young man suffered a T12 spinal cord fracture, which resulted in paralysis from the waist down. As a result, Caden would not be able to play basketball during his senior year.

Previously his dream was to play D1 basketball. Now, his new dream is to walk. Doctors have said his diagnosis is not final and Caden uses this as determination to walk again.

Caden’s passion is basketball and he believes without a doubt he will be back! Caden’s ultimate sports dream would be “to see my favorite NBA player, Kevin Durant, take the court!”

Caden's Dream

Caden’s Dream was jam packed! Our biggest day started with a trip to the Phoenix Suns training facility, which was incredible. We received an amazing behind the scenes tour and were able to enjoy breakfast where the team eats. From here, we watched practice, which ended with Kevin Durant coming right up to Caden to chat. Kevin signed autographs and even took one of Caden’s #BallForCaden hats!

A number of other players made their way over to Caden as did coach Vogel, who even asked Caden which defense the Suns should use to stop Anthony Edwards. Caden told coach to use a two/three zone and even told him which players would be best. Afterwards, Caden was able to shoot some hoops with his brother.

After lunch and some downtime, the crew headed over to the Footprint Center to watch warmups courtside. Then the crew enjoyed dinner and watched the Suns win from club level!

Special thank you to the Phoenix Suns and Hotel Valley Ho for taking such great care of Caden and the Dream Team.
