Meet Cora

Meet Cora, an amazing and passionate 13-year-old girl who lives with Autism. Cora has never met a stranger and her favorite things include making people smile and dancing hip-hop!

Cora has had many difficulties in her childhood but has worked hard to overcome everything thrown her way. Her condition has put limitations in front of her, but she has found a way to smile, dance and live authentically as herself.

Cora LOVES the energy of the App State fans on game days and cannot wait to cheer on the Mountaineers as her dream comes true thanks to the App State Collegiate Dream Team! Cora is excited to be an honorary member of the App State Spirit Program and give her all for the Mountaineers!

Cora's Dream

Dream Kid, Cora, had the most amazing weekend with the Appalachian State University Collegiate Dream Team!
 
Cora’s Dream kicked off with an incredible grade wide send off that included Yosef, the App State mascot, and the App State Cheer Team and Dance Team. The 8th grade students made a tunnel that led Cora to her limo, which was filled with goodies including a custom warmup jacket along with her own pom poms!
 
From here, the crew headed to the App State Bookstore where Cora was greeted with every kind of App State swag possible! She rounded out her visit by finding gifts for friends and family.  Cora also enjoyed a shopping spree at her favorite store…Walmart! She filled her cart and enjoyed every minute of her time picking out fun goodies.
 
Next stop: Practice with the App State cheerleaders and App State dance team! After being introduced to the team, she got right to work. She was introduced to the team and then went to work, learning the routine for the next day’s App State Basketball game. Cora was a natural! She picked up the routine quickly and her confidence was unmatched.
 
Day two started with a trip to the nail salon followed by delicious desserts at Mo’ Sweets. After, it was game time and Cora was dressed in her own personal App State Cheerleading uniform, gifted by the head coach Morgan Delgado. At the beginning of the game, Cora was introduced as the App State CDT Dream Kid and was presented the game ball at center court!
 
As you can imagine, Cora was the star of the show during her halftime performance. She danced her heart out with the dance team and for the finale ended in a stunt with the cheerleaders. During the game she led the crowd in chants on the sideline. The entire experience was topped off with a win in double OT!
 
After the game Cora got autographs from the entire basketball team and even met App State Football Coach Clark!
