Meet Egypt

Meet Egypt an optimistic 19-year-old from Montezuma, GA! This high school senior never misses an opportunity to embrace her competitive nature. Whether it be on the basketball court with her team or breaking barriers in flag football by becoming the only female quarterback in the county!

In February 2022, Egypt’s post-graduation plans of attending South Georgia Tech and studying the film industry were placed on hold. Egypt was involved in a head-on car collision, which resulted in paralysis from the waist down.

Following the incident, Egypt was admitted to The Shepherd Center, a nationally ranked rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, Georgia. She participated in daily physical and occupational therapy sessions in hopes to regain her independence.

Even during the most difficult circumstances, Egypt’s big personality shines bright! Her goal is to get back on the court and compete in a wheelchair basketball league. Egypt admires the NBA athletes on the Golden State Warriors roster and dreams of being front & center at the Chase Center to watch her sports idols play!

Egypt's Dream

Egypt and Skylar had a blast kicking off their double Golden State Warriors Dream!

Egypt’s Dream kicked off via Zoom with members of DO3 and her Shepherd Center family. Upon arrival at the airport, Delta Air Lines had the sweetest set up for her! Both Dreamers were gifted Warriors swag to rock this weekend.

Egypt kicked off her second day with a morning boat cruise sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, getting a close-up view of Alcatraz, and watching the famous sea lions at pier 39. After, they enjoyed lunch at Wipe Out Bar before playing arcade games and winning some prizes!

From here, Skylar and Egypt met up at Oracle Park for a San Francisco Giants game. They were able to watch batting practice up close and even had the chance to meet and chat with Giants’ catcher, Patrick Bailey, who generously gave them autographed balls and batting gloves! From here everyone headed to their private suite, donated by Chevrolet.

Egypt’s third day was a whirlwind of excitement and discovery as she and her dream team set out to explore San Francisco. Their first stop was Lombard Street, known for its winding road, where they were captivated by the iconic sight. They then quickly visited the replica of the Palace of Fine Arts, capturing some Greek royalty-inspired photos. Next, Egypt ventured to the Golden Gate Bridge, her breath taken away by its beauty and the coastal scenery. Afterward, they swung by the famous ‘Full House’ house before indulging in some pizza at Ghirardelli Square.

Finally, both Skylar and Egypt met up at the Chase Center to watch the Golden State Warriors take on the Utah Jazz. Skylar and Egypt were shocked by a backstage tour of the arena, where they explored inside restaurants and suites, admired artwork, and checked out private boxes! Settling into their court-side seats, they watched the Warriors warm up, getting an up-close view of the players in action.

The Warriors Community team then surprised them with gift shop and food vouchers, allowing them to stock up on souvenirs and enjoy snacks during the game. Armed with swag from the gift shop, they cheered loudly for their favorite team. They even made it onto the Jumbotron during halftime, where the Warriors celebrated them and their incredible journeys.

As the Warriors secured a win, it was the perfect end to a dream-come-true experience for Egypt and Skylar.

Thank you to the Argonaut Hotel and Blue Mermaid Chowder House and Bar for taking such great care of our families.
