Meet Hannah

Meet Hannah, a bright and energetic 20-year-old from Kensington, Maryland. Hannah was born at just 25 weeks, weighing only one pound and 12 ounces. She suffered a massive brain hemorrhage on day three of life, which resulted in numerous challenges in the NICU and after, including her diagnoses of cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, blindness, seizures, and an intellectual disability.

Hannah has been a fighter since day one and that fighting spirit remains strong today! Hannah faces challenges with a huge smile and fierce determination. She is described by others as “human sunshine,” and has overcome each and every obstacle with a smile and so much joy. She brings happiness to everyone she meets and has a way of making everyone around her better than they were before they met her.

A true renaissance woman, Hannah loves, and plays, almost every sport, but she especially loves soccer! Hannah loves to cheer on George Washington University’s Women’s Soccer team and the GWU Collegiate Dream Team can’t wait to make her GWU Dream come true!

Hannah's Dream

Hannah’s weekend in DC was truly a dream come true!

On Friday, the GWU Collegiate Dream Team, along with friends and family (including two previous Dreamers!) surprised Hannah at home. After lots of smiles and hugs, the crew headed to campus for a shopping spree followed by a delicious sushi dinner. The night ended with a great night of sleep at AKA Washington Circle.

Day two started with breakfast at Tatte, followed by watching women’s soccer practice and a locker room tour! After, everyone enjoyed a pizza picnic at Potomac Park and then headed to Sequoia for a fancy night out! The night ended with a special trip to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for a CLUE!

On the third and final day of Hannah’s dream weekend, she was honored during the women’s soccer game, where she was introduced with the starting lineup and as the honorary captain. Hannah was embraced by the soccer team and all of the fans and certainly felt all the love!

The GWU CDT said, “Hannah is a ray of sunshine, and it was a joy to spend the weekend with her. We are incredibly grateful to have her as our dream kid, and she has undoubtedly made a lasting impact on all of our lives!”
