Hunter's Dream

Meet Hunter

Meet Hunter, a fun-loving and talkative 15-year-old from Concord, NC. With a huge passion for baseball, Hunter is fully dedicated to the sport in every way!

Hunter is the team manager for his high school team, never missing a game even if it’s an hour away. Hunter even dresses the part, wearing his baseball pants and team shirt! His favorite part about being on the team is walking with his teammates from school to the baseball field, making him really feel like he’s a part of the team.

Hunter was born early via an emergency c-section. Due to a lack of oxygen, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. His TBI has caused developmental delays and learning disabilities. In additional, Hunter also suffers from epilepsy and deafness in his left ear. Because of this, Hunter is unable to read or write and has troubles with fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.

Despite any challenge Hunter faces, his passion for baseball keeps him motivated! Hunter’s dream is to attend an Atlanta Braves game, meet MLB players, and walk out onto the field at Truist Park!

Hunter's Dream

The Dream kicked off in the best way possible — with a school-wide sendoff celebration at Mount Pleasant High School! Students packed into the gym to welcome the MPHS Junior Dream Team, with a warm introduction from the Athletic Director.

The energy amped up as a student-led introduction spotlighted each JDT member, followed by a fun rally towel toss into the crowd. After the cheers settled, the school proudly presented a donation check to Dream On 3, and team members shared heartfelt sendoff gifts during a special huddle with Hunter.

As Hunter walked through a tunnel of cheering students toward the limo, it finally hit him — his dream was officially starting!

Escorted by police and joined by JDT members, Hunter headed to breakfast to fuel up before the big trip to Atlanta. The excitement continued to build as they arrived at the beautiful Omni Hotel in ATL, where Hunter was greeted with a room full of his favorite snacks and a stunning view overlooking Truist Park — home of the Braves!

After some rest from the road, it was time for dinner at The Yard House, right next to the hotel. The staff treated Hunter and his family like VIPs, complete with goodie bags, gifts, and a delicious meal topped off with dessert. With full hearts (and bellies), the crew wrapped up an unforgettable first day — ready for the BIG dream day ahead.

The next morning started slow and easy with breakfast in the hotel room before the group hit the road for a surprise adventure. Winding through the scenic Georgia countryside, they arrived in Dawsonville at Atlanta Motorsports Park — a racing track that opened early just for them!

In the first session, Hunter rode with his dad to get a feel for the track. But by session two, he was ready. “Mom, Dad, I’ve got this,” he said — and off he went, driving solo like a pro. His joy was contagious, and the family made sure to grab him a souvenir shirt to commemorate his incredible achievement.

Back in Atlanta, the afternoon brought a shopping spree near Truist Park. It took some searching, but Hunter found just the right gear to take home. After a little downtime, it was time for the moment he’d been dreaming of…

Hunter met the Braves’ team contact, who gifted him a bag of exclusive goodies, and then — field access! He watched batting practice up close, snagged a few autographs, and smiled ear to ear as players came by. “This is so much better than watching on TV,” he kept saying.

With seats right behind the visitor’s dugout, Hunter had the perfect view of all the action. He and his dad cheered side-by-side, fully immersed in the game. And maybe it was Hunter’s magic, because the Braves pulled off a thrilling win in the 8th inning, holding the Phillies scoreless in the 9th to seal the victory.

From the roar of the racetrack to the roar of the ballpark crowd, every moment was filled with joy, connection, and unforgettable memories.
