Meet Jay

Meet Jay! This 10 year old dreamer, from Washington, D.C. may be the biggest basketball fan you’ve ever met. Jay spends his free time shooting hoops, playing soccer, and attending his sister’s lacrosse games. His infectious joy, and kind spirit makes him shine in any room he walks into.

Jay’s passion for sports is built on a foundation of family and he loves to cheer on his sister and brother at their games. Living with Down syndrome has posed challenges for Jay, but he has never let that stop him from being immersed in the world of sports.

Jay has always been everyones biggest supporter, and a shining example of what it means to be a part of a team. Jay’s sports dream is to attend a Georgetown Men’s Basketball game and cheer on his favorite collegiate team!

The Collegiate Dream Team at Georgetown University has selected Jay as their dream recipient and they are working hard to make Jay’s Georgetown dream come true! Go Hoyas!

Jay's Dream

Jay’s Dream Weekend started off with the sweetest school-wide send off! All of his classmates came out before him with their handmade posters along with office staff and his teachers. He received his Georgetown jersey and his DO3 hat and felt like a total superstar. We all loaded up in his sweet ride and headed to Georgetown for a quick stop at Boulangerie Christophe for macarons, eclairs, coffees and some sandwiches.

We then took Jay to the Georgetown bookstore for a shopping spree! He was completely over the moon, picking out every hoodie, t-shirt, book, and jacket he could find. After checking out, we headed over to the basketball facility where we got to shoot some hoops and meet some of the Georgetown basketball players including Cam Bacote, Supreme Cook, and Wayne Bristol Jr. We even got to see their custom Jordan wall and all of their most prized trophies!

The day ended with a delicious dinner at Flavio’s followed by bowling at Pinstripes. Jay ended up smoking us all and bowled a 100!

Saturday started with breakfast at the hotel and then a walk around D.C. to get coffee and see a few shops.

Afterwards, we headed to Capital One Arena to see Georgetown take on Marquette. We got a VIP tour of the locker room from Assistant Coach, Jeff Battle, met Head Coach Ed Cooley, and then headed to our courtside seats. We were able to watch warmups and high five the players on their way out to the court. During the game, Jay and his family made it on the Jumbotron multiple times!

After the game, we headed to Clyde’s for a delicious family dinner before calling it a night. On Sunday, Jay and his family enjoyed breakfast with the Georgetown CDT members and reminisced on all the best parts of the weekend before heading home.

Thank you to the Georgetown Collegiate Dream Team for planning the most special weekend for Jay!
