Dream Kid Luke had the most TEE-rific time at the BMW Championship! Luke’s Dream was to golf with Rory McIlroy, and with thanks to Rory and his team, the Colorado PGA, the PGA TOUR, and the BMW Championship team, Luke was able to do just that!
On Tuesday morning the Dream team arrived at Luke’s house to let him know that his Dream started NOW! Luke was gifted a number of goodies including custom kicks from Breanna Berry and the same type of dog head cover that Rory has had since he was 14! Special thanks to the Colorado PGA for that sweet attention to detail.
From here, the crew headed to Topgolf, Luke’s favorite spot. After celebrating with the amazing Topgolf Centennial team, the family headed to the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, who continues to go above and beyond for our RMC Dream Families! They decorated the family’s room with all the snacks you could think of including fresh gourmet cupcakes. The rest of the afternoon was spent in their incredible pool and wrapped up with a delicious dinner at the hotel.
On Wednesday, the day started bright and early and Luke had no idea what was in store. Upon arrival at Castle Pines, we were able to catch Rory warming up. Then, a volunteer offered the family special VIP passes for hole one to watch golfers tee off, including Rory!
After, we headed to our seats, donated by the BMW Championship team who even gave us access to the VIP Summit Club. From here, we were in perfect position on the ninth hole for Rory to walk right up to Luke and introduce himself! After asking “want to come walk inside the ropes with me?” Luke followed Rory under the ropes in total awe.
After spending 1:1 time with Rory and walking hole nine, Rory invited Luke to play! Rory was so impressed with Luke’s skills and even gave him some pointers while putting. After photo ops, autographs, and lots of laughs, Rory invited Luke to find him at practice.
Luke was mesmerized watching Rory, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, and Tony Finau as they practiced. After finishing, Rory came right over to Luke to give him some love and thanked him for coming.
Day three started off by watching Rory tee off followed by enjoying the sights and sounds of Castle Rock. Aaron Rai and Shane Lowry added to the Dream magic by stopping by the family to sign autographs. Shane even gifted the boys his gloves!
This could not have been a more magical Dream for Rory’s number one fan.
