Maggie's Dream

Introducing Maggie Tressler! This warm and bubbly 18-year-old young lady is a student at Woodstock High School in Woodstock, GA. She lives with Down syndrome and when we say she “lives”… man, does she! Maggie is extremely active. She is a regular participant with the Cherokee County Special Olympics team where she struts her stuff on the bowling and track teams and was recently awarded Special Olympian of the Year! She is also involved with the Supremes competitive cheerleading team for Rockstar Cheer Atlanta. Maggie’s positive attitude allows her to still do what she loves and reach for her goals despite these many challenges that she is faced with. Maggie is known around school and the community for her contagious smile and outgoing personality. Her favorite color pink describes her sweet and caring heart perfectly. Nothing can hold Maggie back from being the star she was born to be! 

Maggie is a diehard baseball fan and her biggest role model is her older brother, Nolan, who currently plays baseball for Georgia Southern. One of Maggie’s most treasured family activities is going to watch an Atlanta Braves game, cheering on her favorite player on the field, Freddie Freeman. (Although, her all-time favorite player is none other than the Braves 3rd baseman from 1995-2012, #10, Chipper Jones). She proclaims that he is “always smiling and having fun” and that he is “the best baseball player ever”.  She enjoys going to games to see the players, their mascot (Blooper), and the post-home run fireworks. Maggie’s sports dream is to attend an Atlanta Braves game, meet the players, and give Blooper a high five!

A select group of students were chosen from Woodstock High School for their outstanding character and leadership qualities to be a part of the Jr. Dream Team. Their job is to rally around Maggie and display that same loving and positive energy that Maggie gives off each and every day. These students have also been encouraged to unite the entire student body at Woodstock, making them aware and excited about the event. With support from all of the school and community, we hope to make Maggie’s Sports Dream with the Atlanta Braves come true!
