Milan's Dream

Meet Milan

Meet Milan, a motivated 15-year-old from Athens, GA. He loves the world of sports and is a tough competitor no matter the game. He enjoys playing soccer with this teammates and pick up basketball with his friends. However, Milan’s playing days were brought to an abrupt halt after being diagnosed with Castleman TAFRO.

Castleman TARFO is a disease that remains incompletely understood, due to its rareness. Only a few individuals in the US have received this diagnosis and a single treatment strategy has not yet been established. Milan will live with this condition for the rest of his life, but has been blessed with an extremely knowledgeable doctor.

Milan’s fighting spirit is what sets him apart. After his first chemo treatment he lost feeling in his face and was unable to show a lot of emotion. He took that side effect on as a challenge and made sure it did not stop him from smiling during his conversations with others.

Milan admires professional athletes that play fiercely and persevere through challenges. He embraces this mindset daily to make sure his goal of getting back to playing sports is accomplished. He states, “nothing will hold me back from accomplishing my dreams!” Milan’s sports dream is to attend a Liverpool F.C. game and have a VIP experience!

Milan's Dream

After a number of flight delays, the crew made it to Philly in time to rest up for a private meet and greet with Liverpool FC the following day. Milan had the opportunity to meet players, coaches, alumni, CEO Billy Hogan, and even Mighty Red, the mascot. Milan was especially excited to meet his idol and soccer legend, Mo Salah. The entire team went above and beyond for Milan and his family and we are incredibly grateful.

After the meet and greet, the crew headed to Citizens Bank Park for a behind the scenes tour, including watching Phillies batting practice from the field, before sitting just a few rows behind first base during the sold out game…which happened to be Milan’s first ever MLB game!

The next day, Milan and his family were able to spend time with Dr. Fajgenbaum MD, MBA, MSc, FCPP, who, among many other accolades, is the lead researcher of Castleman after being diagnosed in 2010. This in itself was a dream come true for Milan and his family.

That same day the crew took in the sights (and tastes) of Philly before heading to watch Liverpool beat Arsenal 2-1.

Milan rated the Dream a 10/10, and so do we! It was a true reminder that #YoullNeverWalkAlone.
