Meet Sammie

Meet Sammie, a fun-loving 12- year-old from Atlanta, GA! This athlete loves to compete in the Special Olympics and is a huge fan of women’s sports. Volleyball, softball, soccer…you name it and Sammie loves it!

Sammie is a social butterfly that enjoys being around others and making friends. However, this 12-year-old lives with a chromosomal and seizure disorder that often creates an unwanted divide between her and her peers. Often, Sammie’s differences result in her feeling excluded and isolated. During these moments, Sammie leans on her family and embraces their unconditional love!

This Atlanta, GA girl is passionate about her beloved Yellow Jackets. When Sammie, learned she had been selected as the upcoming Georgia Tech Dream Recipient she was overcome with joy! Her sports Dream is to experience Georgia Tech sports, with her new Collegiate Dream Team friends!

Sammie's Dream

The Georgia Tech Collegiate Dream Team surprised Sammie at her house Friday morning and whisked her off to GT in a limo. Once on campus, Sammie spent 1:1 time with the Georgia Tech Softball team, including participating in warmups and spending time in the dugout. The Yellow Jackets softball team also surprised Sammie with custom goodies, including a bat!

Sammie then met the Georgia Tech Volleyball team where she received more custom goodies, including a jersey! After hanging in the locker room with the team, Sammie and her family enjoyed watching the Yellow Jackets dominate conference rival, UVA. During the match, Sammie was even invited on court for a special welcome!

Sammie’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Dream continued yesterday when the Georgia Tech Cheerleading team included Sammie in homecoming fun! After a morning at Topgolf with her family and the Georgia Tech Collegiate Dream Team, Sammie was surprised with her very own cheerleading uniform! Once ready, Sammie headed for Bobby Dodd Stadium to join in warmups before joining in the pre-game festivities in Yellow Jacket Alley. After celebrating Buzz’s birthday, Sammie was recognized in-game as Georgia Tech Football defeated conference rival, Duke.

The Georgia Tech Collegiate Dream Team knocked this Dream out of the park for Sammie!
