Meet Sean

Meet Sean! This 17-year-old from Charlotte, NC plays baseball with the organization Take On Sports. Take On Sports allows individuals with special needs to participate in sports and experience being pushed beyond what the athlete thought possible. If you ask Sean, baseball is the best game in the world!

Playing 3rd base, running fast, and hitting big are three of Sean’s favorite aspects of the game. During baseball season, Sean’s family enjoys visiting the local stadiums and cheering on the home team. Whenever this gentle, kind-hearted teenager has free time, you can find him building Legos or playing with his dog, Daisy.

Sean’s sports Dream is to attend the 2023 ACC Baseball Tournament at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. If given the opportunity, Sean would love to meet some of the college players and learn more about them by asking questions.

Sean's Dream

Dream Kid Sean is the sweetest. This Philips Academy 17-year-old was surprised on campus when he learned that his Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Dream started NOW!

Sean loved taking photos with all of his friends and was thrilled when he was surprised with his own custom bat. Sean told us he had never been in a limo before and his face was lit up the entire ride to Durham! Our friends at 21c Museum Hotel Durham welcomed Sean and his family with a special goody basket AND surprised them by upgrading them to a suite. After a delicious dinner, the group was ready for bed.

Even though the weather tried to put a damper on things it only made things better!

The team started day two with a surprise visit to the fire station where Sean’s brother, Cameron works. Cameron, just completed training in April and the family was so excited to surprise Sean with time with his brother. The team received a tour of the station and even got to see Cameron leave for a call!

The next stop was Pompieri Pizza, which used to be the very first fire station in Durham over 70 tears ago! After lunch, the team headed to the ballpark where they were able to spend time with Carolina Baseball Coach Scott Forbes, and some of his guys on the field. Then it was time to head up to the suite to unwind a bit and get ready for the game.

In the suite, the team was surprised with a visit from Danny Graves and Jordan Cornette from the ACC Network. They talked with Sean about all things baseball and even gifted him a signed game ball. Next, they took Sean on a tour of the sports announcers booth where he got to hear some phenomenal live coverage!

Overall, it was an amazing baseball weekend!
