Meet Tripp

Tripp is a delightful 15-year-old young man with the kindest heart. Tripp lives with autism, which can make communicating with others a challenge. However, playing sports has helped him to form personal connections with his peers! Tripp is a big fan of LEGO games, Xbox, cars, and Adidas. He also enjoys hanging out with his friends, staying active with KEEN, playing soccer and basketball with Open Door Sports, and tennis with ACEing Autism.

Fun Fact: Tripp also has his own YouTube channel where he shares his fondness for these hobbies and whatever else is on his mind! Tripp loves school. He attends The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD, where many of his classmates go on to attend college. This inspired his love of college sports and formed his dream of someday meeting a college soccer player.

Tripp has a joy for life that is contagious and gives energy and happiness to everyone he meets. We cannot wait to make his soccer dream come true!

Tripp's Dream

On Friday, Tripp was greeted at his school with all of his peers, the GWU Dream Team & his family for his send-off! His classmates rallied around him, showing their excitement and support.

The crew headed then for downtown DC to explore the monuments before attending the GWU Women’s Soccer practice to cheer on Captain Kelly and other GWU CDT members. Tripp was able to stand on the sidelines with the coaches & had such a great time being involved! The players even included him in their after practice stretch, which he loved!

After the soccer practice, the crew headed to Sequoia at Washington Harbour for a fancy meal and a massive milkshake for Tripp, before ending the night at the hotel.

On Saturday, the day started with a big breakfast with the CDT before heading to Pinstripes to show off Tripp’s bowling skills! Everyone enjoyed spending time together & celebrating Tripp.

After bowling, Tripp went to the GWU Men’s Basketball pre-game shoot around! The basketball team and coaching staff were so incredible, and helped make Tripp feel so included & special. He was able to help coach the drills and pass the ball to players, which was super cool to him! After the shoot around, we had a quick pizza break before heading to the game. Tripp was recognized at the game as part of the starting lineup where he got to walk the court with the team!

The CDT was also recognized at the game for all of their hard work and efforts planning this dream and Tripp was able to go on the court with them once again. Although the game got a bit overwhelming, Tripp found comfort in all of the GWU CDT crew and left at halftime to rest up after a long day.

Sunday morning started with a big breakfast with some of the CDT team and even Dream Kid Alumni, Anderson! Anderson and Tripp are good friends from Open Door Sports Inc., so it was super special spending the morning with both of them. After saying our goodbyes, it was time to head home.

Thank you to our CDT National Sponsor, Volvo Construction Equipment North America and GWU Dream Team for all of their efforts and hard work!
