Meet Xai! An outgoing, kind, and enthusiastic young man from Greeley, CO whose positive attitude and perseverance is inspirational to all who meet him.
In 2019, Xai started experiencing excruciating stomach pains, aching joints, and extreme fatigue. After months of tests, he was diagnosed with a severe case of Chron’s Disease. He now visits the hospital every 3-4 weeks to receive transfusions to help mitigate his symptoms, but with the severity of his condition, Xai will need to continue doing this for the rest of his life.
Xai’s diagnosis has cut his baseball playing days short, but he continues to stay involved with the game as an umpire to celebrate the sport he’s loved since he was 3 years old. He also aspires to be a sports broadcaster when he grows up!
The only thing Xai may love more than playing the game of baseball itself is cheering on his beloved Colorado Rockies. Self-described as “coming out of the womb in a Rockies jersey,” Xai loves following his hometown team year-round. He even schedules his transfusion appointments around the Rockies’ schedule so he doesn’t have to miss a game!
Xai would love to meet his heroes who play on the Rockies in person, and his ultimate sports Dream would be to throw out the first pitch during a game at Coors Field!
