Meet Akshay

Meet Akshay! This strong, resilient, and caring 16-year-old from Johns Creek, Georgia, is an incredible young man. He and his family have been in the USA since 2014, having moved from India to seek the best treatment for Akshay.

Akshay was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was only two and a half years old. He has been in a wheelchair since second grade and was recently hospitalized with pneumonia. During his hospitalization, he also suffered strokes. However, nothing stops Akshay from pursuing his passions!

For the past two years, Akshay has been playing power soccer and even scored a hat trick at the 2024 Nationals! He loves watching cricket with his dad and has even traveled back to India since moving to the USA to see games.

Akshay’s go-getter attitude and relentless hard work inspires his family and helps them all to have a positive mindset.

We can’t wait to make Akshay’s dream of being a part of the Kansas City Chiefs and meeting Patrick Mahomes come true!

Akshay's Dream

Day one of Akshay’s Dream experience started with a surprise at his house including our team along with his doctor from Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. Here, we told him that his Chiefs Dream started NOW! After receiving some sweet kicks and custom Chiefs gear, the crew headed to the airport. Upon arrival in Kansas City, we headed straight to the Loews Hotel who welcomed us with so much love! Their VIP Manager was waiting for Akshay and his family so he could present them them with a warm welcome and gift basket. The Lowes team also included Akshay’s favorite snacks and drinks in his room, which was such an amazing touch. The night ended with dinner at Q39 who went out of their way to make sure we were loved on. Not only was the food incredible, so was the service!

Day two in Kansas City started off with the entire Loews team cheering Akshay and his family on with a clap line in the lobby. After, we spent time at Sandbox VR, which everyone absolutely loved. The crew worked as a team to save planet earth from aliens before heading to Buffalo State Pizzeria for a delicious lunch.

That night, Akshay was the VIP at the Chiefs Monday Night matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As Akshay watched from the sidelines, the team ran up to high five him upon entering the field. After, the one and only Patrick Mahomes walked up to Akshay, shook his hand, welcomed him to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and handed him the game ball. Akshay was in awe of meeting his idol. After, he said “he even pronounced my name right!”

Once the game started, Akshay and his family enjoyed the game from VIP seats as the Chiefs defeated the Bucs 30-24.
