Meet Elmer

Elmer is a kind, caring, and resilient kiddo from Denver, CO. Despite some scary medical challenges that have happened already in his young life – Elmer faces his new challenges with hope and a big smile!

After some intense headaches and countless tests, it was determined at the age of 5 that Elmer lives with abnormal bulging blood vessels in his brain. This has led to him having a stroke, leading to developmental and processing delays. Since he is continually at risk of having another stroke – his daily life is forever changed. The hardest part for Elmer is that he is unable to play any of the sports he so deeply loves and needs to wear a helmet daily to protect his brain in case of falls, trips, etc.

Despite not being able to play sports, it hasn’t stopped Elmer from cheering on all of his favorite teams, especially his beloved Denver Broncos! He loves the team thanks to a family rivalry with his Grandpa, and never misses a game on TV!

Elmer and his family have never been to a game in person, and his ultimate sports Dream is to “stand on the logo in the middle of the field like I’m part of the team” and see a game live at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium! We can’t wait to see Elmer do his Mile High Salute in realtime and at a game this Fall!

Elmer's Dream

Elmer’s Dream weekend kicked off with the sweetest surprise at his home. Elmer thought that he and his family were going camping for the weekend, only to open the front door to find the Dream Team letting him know his Dream started NOW! Elmer was immediately escorted to the Broncos training facility for a full tour and behind the scenes look at team practice. Here he met a number of players and was even able to break down the huddle after practice! Elmer was also able to chat with the Broncos head coach, Sean Payton, and was surprised with autographed cleats from #72, Left Tackle, Garrett Bolles. After leaving, Elmer kept saying, “they were all cheering for me! They all knew my name!” and he kept pinching himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.

The rest of the day was spent at the aquarium, which Elmer and his family couldn’t have loved more. After a delicious dinner, the family headed to The Crawford Hotel for a fun night in Union Station.

On game day, Elmer was able to go down to the field before the game to warm warmups, which he couldn’t believe. He loved spending time with his family cheering on his beloved Broncos, who took home the W against the Panthers.

Elmer has a heart as big as he is and we are so happy we could make his Broncos Dream come true!
