Meet Jacob

Meet Jacob! This selfless 17-year-old is the kind of person everyone wants to be around. His caring and supportive nature naturally draws others to him and brings a smile to everyone’s face.

A day after his 17th birthday, Jacob was admitted to the hospital due to his blood sugar not reading correctly. From there, his condition quickly turned into necrotizing pancreatitis, severe debility, critical illness neuromyopathy, multiple infections, and type 2 diabetes. He went from being a normal high schooler playing baseball and the drums to learning how to walk again. Still, throughout this period, Jacob earned the nickname “Coach Jacob” from other patients on his floor, as he was always encouraging them and cheering them on despite struggling himself. Jacob has made incredible progress and can now walk with the help of a walker as he continues to go to rehab twice a week.

Jacob gets his passion from his Papa, especially when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys! Growing up, Jacob loved seeing his Papa’s enthusiasm during every Cowboys game. Jacob’s ultimate sports dream is to go to a Cowboys game with his idol, his Papa, and see America’s Team play in person at AT&T Stadium!

Jacob's Dream

The first day of Jacob’s Dream started off with an early morning send off from Jacob’s home in Forest City, NC. We hopped in the Escalade limo with Jacob, Papa, sister and mom and headed to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Jacob and Papa were able to fly first class and the American Airlines crew even welcomed Jacob over the loudspeaker!

The Loews Arlington hotel kept the VIP treatment up by greeting us with a clap line when we arrived. Their entire staff was waiting to welcome Jacob and his family to the hotel! Plus, they placed the family in an incredible suite filled with goodies just for them. Their goodie package included Cowboys swag, snacks, candy and even a chocolate football!

After a little downtime at the hotel, we headed to the American Airlines Center where we were hosted by the Dallas Mavericks. Jacob got to sit courtside for warms ups, get a handful of autographs from players, and was even gifted an autographed Kyrie Irving jersey! After enjoying dinner in the courtside VIP lounge, Jacob and his family enjoyed their first ever NBA game.

Day two kicked off with an amazing private VIP tour of the one and only AT&T Stadium. The experience took us through the exclusive VIP clubs, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ locker room, the press room, and even onto the field itself! Papa had a blast naming every player featured in the historic photos around the arena—a perfect way to experience his lifelong passion as a Cowboys fan.

After some downtime at the hotel, we headed to the Cosm for an unforgettable afternoon. Watching the Ravens vs. Browns game felt like being right on the sidelines—a truly immersive and thrilling way to enjoy the game!

We wrapped up the day with a family game night of Uno and ice cream, which was the perfect ending to an amazing day.

Day three marked the official Dream Day as we headed to AT&T Stadium to watch the Cowboys take on division rivals, the Washington Commanders. We were treated to an incredible experience in a suite, hosted by a generous friend, Mark Morgan with Martin Marietta. We were blown away by the hospitality shown to Jacob and his family. The suite was stocked with an amazing spread of food and drinks, including an ice cream sundae bar! Mark and his family went above and beyond for our crew and we are so grateful.

Though it was a tough loss for the Cowboys, it was an unforgettable experience for Jacob and Papa to cheer on their favorite team at home.

After the game, we returned to the hotel for some downtime before gathering again for dinner and a fun-filled evening. We played a few rounds of Uno and settled in for a movie night featuring Jacob’s all-time favorite, Little Rascals. He knows almost every line by heart and had us all laughing as he quoted along!

While Jacob lived his Dream, giving Jacob and his Papa the opportunity to cheer on their beloved team together was a Dream come true for us.
