Meet Jacob! This selfless 17-year-old is the kind of person everyone wants to be around. His caring and supportive nature naturally draws others to him and brings a smile to everyone’s face.
A day after his 17th birthday, Jacob was admitted to the hospital due to his blood sugar not reading correctly. From there, his condition quickly turned into necrotizing pancreatitis, severe debility, critical illness neuromyopathy, multiple infections, and type 2 diabetes. He went from being a normal high schooler playing baseball and the drums to learning how to walk again. Still, throughout this period, Jacob earned the nickname “Coach Jacob” from other patients on his floor, as he was always encouraging them and cheering them on despite struggling himself. Jacob has made incredible progress and can now walk with the help of a walker as he continues to go to rehab twice a week.
Jacob gets his passion from his Papa, especially when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys! Growing up, Jacob loved seeing his Papa’s enthusiasm during every Cowboys game. Jacob’s ultimate sports dream is to go to a Cowboys game with his idol, his Papa, and see America’s Team play in person at AT&T Stadium!
