Meet Miles

Miles is an energetic, lively and fun 15-year-old who lives with Fragile X Syndrome. He is the biggest SMU fan and has been repping SMU football since he was a baby. His second favorite SMU sport is basketball.

Miles gains his strength and endurance from his family, his friends and FOOTBALL! He is counting down the days until game day when he can wear his cowboy boots and dig into his favorite tailgate snack, Cheez-Its. He is enamored with locker rooms, uniforms, and tunnels during the pre-game show. We are determined to give Miles the football pre-game experience of his dreams!

Miles has a joy for life that is contagious and gives energy and happiness to everyone he meets. We cannot wait to make his football dream come true!

Miles's Dream

There is almost nothing we love more than past and present Dream Kids cheering each other on! Dream Kid Miles, who was chosen by the SMU Collegiate Dream Team this year, is best friends with Dream Kid Cole, SMU’s 2022 Dream Kid. Seeing them celebrate together this weekend was priceless!

On Friday, the Dream Team showed up to Miles’ house where Miles immediately ran outside to celebrate because he saw Cole! They were able to hang together and toss the football while the Dream Team, and dream sponsor, ROMCO Equipment Co., showered Miles with love. ROMCO even gifted Miles a brand new pair of boots perfect for SMU game day after learning that Miles LOVES his cowboy boots.

After, the crew headed to SMU Football practice where Miles was gifted a custom SMU jersey. He was beyond excited and spent time walking around the entire field house getting autographs and even taking a knee with the guys on the sidelines. After practice, Miles was officially introduced to the team and was able to show off his signature punt. Here, Miles also was given a tour of the weight room and team tunnel. He spent time ON FIELD and was gifted even more SMU swag. Miles is set for the rest of the season!

After lunch at Mesereo, the crew headed to shoot around with some of the SMU Men’s Basketball team. Miles was gifted a basketball jersey and toured the locker room. Miles, who is a third-generation SMU fan loves SMU basketball almost as much as he loves SMU football. After meeting the team and showing off some of his skills, the Dream Team enjoyed dinner at The Knife.

On Saturday, the day started at Topgolf, where Miles wasn’t scared to show us what he was made of! The family had a blast before gearing up for Mustang game day. Dream Sponsor, ROMCO, went all out for Miles setting up his very own tailgate where Miles was the star the entire time. We’re still so blown away by the love Romco showed our guy. Just look at those custom cookies!

From here, everyone headed to the Mustang Walk where Miles was able to fist bump all of the players as they came off of the bus. A number of the players even remembered Miles from practice the night before and went out of their way to give him some extra love. Once in the stadium, Miles and his family were able to watch warmups ON FIELD! He was able to be in the locker room, and for someone who loves the pregame pomp and circumstance, this had Miles smiling from ear to ear.

During the game, Miles was recognized on field and never stopped cheering for his Mustangs. Dream realized!

The weekend ended with Miles enjoying breakfast at Chelsea Corner with the SMU CDT.

Thank you to the SMU Collegiate Dream Team for planning a truly incredible weekend for Miles and his family. This group of students has totally blown us away!

Thank you to Dream Sponsor, ROMCO Equipment Co., for going above and beyond for Miles and to RxBenefits for sponsoring the SMU CDT. Lastly, thank you to Volvo Construction Equipment North America for being the National Sponsor of our Collegiate Dream Team Program!
